Hunter S. Thomson contributed an introduction titled "A Conversation on Ralph Steadman and His Book "America." This is a first edition. Steadman's drawings feature New York, the Kentucky Derby, Newport Rhode Island, Las Vegas, Taos New Mexico, Dallas, Vietnam, Miami, Miami Beach, Watergate, money, police, Richard Nixon, voting the environment and Disneyland L.A. The composition books of Charles Crumb are described as "books with hundreds of pages of inscrutable pen marks, in series of wiggly lines, m's of n's, or just dots. These 'secret writings' may have been decipherable to him, but they remain a mystery to those he left behind."
